Lot #7  WVF 7-769

This is an exceptionally well-bred February ram lamb.  He offers good balance across multiple traits including solid growth, maternal milk, prolificacy and weaning percentage.  All in a package that is structurally sound and offers great parasite resistance.  His dam is from our strongest maternal line out of an easy keeping Birch Cove (Coplen) ram. His sire is from Hound River (Newton) with genetic Connections to the USDA Flock in Arkansas bringing excellent parasite resistance to this mating.  He’s been a standout since before he was weaned.  Our recent carcass ultrasound scans found that he had the top rib eye depth and among the top in back fat as well.  We are keeping his twin sister and planning a repeat breeding of sire and dam.

Lot # 8  WVF 9-796

An outstanding twin March lamb offering a solid balance of traits that will work in any management system.  This ram brings excellent maternal milk and growth to any mating.  Together with moderate prolificacy  and parasite resistance he will be especially strong for a forage based operation.  His dam is a well balanced ewe who is exceptionally strong in growth traits, maternal milk and parasite resistance tracing genetic connections to Misty Oaks (Bielick) of Ohio.  His sire is from Rolling Spring (Wright) and excelled at maternal milk and other maternal traits – an excellent sire for replacement ewes.  Recent ultrasound scans revealed he has solid carcass characteristics and was among the top animals in both backfat thickness and rib eye depth.  This is an exciting young ram with a solid future ahead of him.
