WRI6079 “Ross”

Ross was selected from an outstanding ewe line bred by Rolling Spring Farm in Glade Spring, Virginia.  We brought him to New England and proved him over 3 seasons at both farms.  He is an excellent “ewe sire”, meaning that his genetic strengths are well-suited to producing maternally strong, heavy milking daughters.  We’ve had exceptionally good luck breeding him to daughters of MOF1228 who were quite parasite resistant, but lacked the level of milk production that we desired.  Consequently, many of his progeny are well balanced across multiple traits and among the best in the breed, according to NSIP, for maternal traits.  After the 2018 breeding season, he was transferred to Glenbrook Farm in Leola, Pennsylvania.
